Internal Medicine
Elizabeth Sander, M.D. decided to pursue a career in medicine because she was always interested in science, especially anatomy and physiology. “Pursing medicine was a natural transition for me,” she says. “After 30 years, I still enjoy the challenge of clinical medicine.”
A Board-certified internist, Dr. Sander says she finds developing long-term relationships with her patients and their families to be the most fulfilling part of her work. The fact that many of her patients have been seeing her the entire time she has been in practice underscores how successfully she connects with them.
“Every patient is unique, and so is the process of determining a diagnosis from a constellation of symptoms and physical findings,” she says. She has a clinical interest in caring for patients with heart failure and diabetes.
Dr. Sander received her medical degree from Temple University in Philadelphia and completed her internship and residency at Penn State University Hershey Medical Center. Her longtime patients characterize her as thorough, straightforward in her instructions and an empathetic listener. Online reviews describe her as making patients comfortable and always answering their questions.
When she’s not in the office, Dr. Sander enjoys gardening, playing the piano, reading, and traveling with her husband. She has two grown daughters.
