Jane Ekejiuba is board-certified in Family Medicine. She is an active member of the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP), the California Academy of Family Physicians (CAFP), the American Board of Family Medicine (ABFM).

“My philosophy of patient care is to practice preventative medicine. I like to form a partnership with my patients, making sure they are well informed about their medical conditions and answering all their questions to keep them in optimum health,” Dr. Ekejiuba says. “I hope my patients think of me as compassionate, caring, and a good listener.” She will be pleased to know this is exactly what her patients think of her, at least, according to all her consistently high ratings and great reviews. “As a mother, I enjoy working with children, and I can easily relate to the parents.”

Dr. Ekejiuba says, “One of the reasons I was attracted to Providence is because the providers all work together as a team to provide the best care for our patients. Patients can come in for same-day appointments and see someone, even if it isn’t me. I like knowing we have them covered, even if I’m not there.”

Originally from Nigeria, Dr. Ekejiuba’s interest in medicine started when she was about 13 years old. “My parents had taken me to a Nigerian clinic made up of doctors on a foreign medical mission,” she says. “As I observed the doctors, I was so impressed with how they provided compassionate care to the patients that it made a strong impact. I knew then and there that was what I wanted to do.”

Dr. Ekejiuba received her Doctor of Optometry degree from Abia State University College of Optometry in Nigeria. After receiving her Optometry degree, she earned her science teaching credential. She then obtained her medical degree from Ross University Medical School, Dominica in the West Indies. She moved to the United States after graduation to join her husband.

Dr. Ekejiuba completed her internship and residency in Family medicine with extensive inpatient and outpatient experience in primary care at Kern Medical Center in Bakersfield, California. “I am passionate about preventive medicine and being a strong advocate for my patients by educating and empowering them to become more informed, involved, and active in attaining and maintaining optimal health,” she says. You can now find her practicing medicine at the Carson Primary Care facility and Providence Little Company of Mary Medical Center in Torrance.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Ekejiuba enjoys dancing and singing, socializing with friends, and spending time with her husband and three kids. She is very active in the Children’s ministry and the choir at her church. She is looking forward to vacationing with her family after the pandemic eases up.

Dr. Ekejiuba holds a California State Medical Physician and Surgeon License. Dr. Ekejiuba is certified in Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and involved with the Drug Enforcement Administration of the US Department of Justice (DEA). She participated in the research and publication of an article on the Ocular Effect of Sublingual Isosorbide Dinitrate.
