Lubna Naqi, M.D. is a double board-certified physician specializing in Internal Medicine with an Endocrinology subspecialty. She has served as the Director of the Providence Hospitalist program as well as the Post-Acute Program Director.

Her patients at Providence Medical Center in Redondo Beach giver her top marks for her caring manner, her professionalism, and her thoroughness. They say she never rushes them and is excellent at communicating with her patients, not in “jargon,” but in terms they understand. Besides being an endocrinologist, she is also a Physician Advisor for Little Company of Mary, and she is fluent in English and Urdu.

“I am interested in and fascinated with hormones and how they affect our well-being. My philosophy is to treat all my patients as I would treat a beloved family member,” Naqi says. “My goal is to help each patient understand their diabetes diagnosis and treatment, so they experience the least side effects and the most control of their disease.”

After being with Providence for about 13 years, Naqi says, “I love their caring manner with both the physicians and the patients. They are always transparent in their actions and treat everyone with respect. They are conscientious about following all the ADA guidelines to make sure they can provide the best treatment for everyone,” she says.

Naqi has previously served as the Diabetes Director for Providence Little Company of Mary Medical Torrance, served as a UCLA faculty member, and taught medical students in the endocrine and diabetes clinics. “I enjoy participating on many hospital committees and helping to improve the quality of care at Little Company of Mary,” she says.

Dr. Naqi earned her medical degree from Liaquat University in Jamshoro, Sindh, Pakistan. She completed her internship and residency at the Los Angeles County (USC) Medical Center. Afterward, Dr. Naqi went on to join the fellowship program with Veterans Affairs W. Los Angeles Healthcare Systems.

“I have received several awards and honors from Providence, such as the Most Liked MD Award from the Diabetes Education/Nursing Department. The Providence board members have recognized me for my work and as a Physician Advisor to the Hospital. I continue to assist in refining the diabetes care guidelines for our hospitalized patients to ensure that our patients receive the best care possible.”

Dr. Naqi and her husband live in the South Bay and enjoy spending time with their two sons. Outside of medicine, she enjoys reading for pleasure, gardening, cooking, and taking long walks. “I am also looking forward to doing some traveling after the pandemic eases up.”
