One of Dr. Genesa Wagoner’s greatest joys is getting children off to a good start on being healthy for life. It’s the reason she went into medicine, and pediatrics in particular. “I always wanted to help people and I love working with kids and their families,” she says. “I love all the different ages and stages in a child’s life as they grow into and adolescents and adulthood.”

Dr. Wagoner has been in practice since 1995 and works at Providence Pediatrics – San Pedro. She completed a fellowship in Integrative Medicine and continues to study and apply natural therapies in her practice, in addition to more conventional treatments. “Sometimes medicines are necessary, but I like to use a holistic approach whenever possible, such as nutrition and natural therapies,” she notes. She believes in a whole person approach that includes listening, and understanding who a person (or family) is before making recommendations. The goal is to help her patients heal when needed and thrive the rest of the time.

Dr. Wagoner earned a Master’s in Public Health from the University of California, Berkeley and her medical degree from University of California, San Francisco. She completed her internship and residency at Harbor UCLA Medical Center and an Integrative Medicine Fellowship at the University of Arizona. She is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics.

Patients describe Dr. Wagoner as a compassionate and caring pediatrician who is extremely knowledgeable, thorough and clear in her explanations. “Every family is different and unique,” she notes. “Being able to help kids and families in that context is what I love about being a pediatrician.”

In her spare time, Dr. Wagoner enjoys spending time with her family and friends, hiking, walking at the beach, dancing, yoga, and smiling whenever possible.
