Providence Medical Associates’ AMP Medicare Advantage plan earns high marks for quality, improvement

The Integrated Healthcare Association (IHA) recently awarded AMP Medicare Advantage 4.5-Star Recognition to Providence Medical Associates (PMA) in its Align. Measure. Perform. (AMP) Medicare Advantage program for measurement year 2022. In addition, the group was granted AMP Medicare Advantage Most Improved Recognition for improving the quality of care provided to members during the same period.

How it works: Each year, IHA publishes a list of provider organizations that perform well enough to earn an overall Medicare Advantage star rating of 5 or 4.5 stars against national benchmarks established by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). For these ratings, IHA considers performance measures related to Part C (Medicare Advantage) and Part D (Prescription Drug Plan) services.

This 4.5-star designation for PMA recognizes a high level of Medicare Advantage quality achievement. To earn 4.5 stars, a group must achieve an overall star rating of 4.5 across all clinical quality measures reported by IHA. PMA was one of only 18% of participating organizations that achieved this performance level in this period.

For the Medicare Stars Quality Improvement recognition, IHA calculates each organization’s improvement in the number of overall stars on the Medicare Stars score from one year to the next. Organizations that improve by at least half a star are recognized as the state’s most-improved provider organizations.
